History & Mission

The Leesburg (Ohio) Area Historical Society was formed in 2018, in response to an opportunity to save our local train depot.  The committee members felt strongly that our historical preservation and education efforts should not stop after a single project, so it was decided to register as a non-profit organization with a broader mission.  We welcome the involvement of all residents of the village of Leesburg and surrounding areas, and even those who may live far away but trace their roots to our fertile soil.

The Leesburg Area Historical Society's purpose is to:
  • preserve and restore local historical locations and items tied to the history of the community
  • preserve information about local history
  • provide learning opportunities for all who are interested in the history of the community
